Hi, I’m Ruben. Two years ago, I was exactly where you are—wanting to get fit but frustrated by gym memberships, expensive equipment, and lack of space. Living in a 600 sq ft LA apartment, I realized I had to get creative.
The Problem
I was paying $80/month for a gym membership that I barely used because of commute time. My apartment had zero dedicated workout space. Every piece of equipment I bought seemed to collect dust or clutter up my living room. I’d waste money on gadgets that looked cool but didn’t work, or I’d buy equipment that took up way too much space.
The Solution
Then I started experimenting. I tested equipment piece by piece. I worked with clients one-on-one to see what actually works for small spaces. I made mistakes—lots of them. I bought dumbbells that were too heavy, cables that fell apart, and mats that slipped. But I learned from every mistake.
What I’ve Learned
Over two years, I’ve tested more than 100 pieces of equipment in my small apartment. I’ve built a complete, functional gym for under $300. I’ve helped countless clients do the same. I’ve learned exactly what equipment is worth the money, what’s a waste, and how to get maximum results from minimal space.
Why This Site Exists
I created My Small Home Gym to share everything I’ve learned. No fluff. No sponsored gear I don’t actually use. Just honest reviews of the equipment that actually works, tested in a real 600 sq ft apartment. My goal is simple: help you build a complete home gym without wasting money or space.
